Works flawlessly
We are using this pump while we are repairing leaks in our basement that are coming from outside. We have dug a trench and each time it rains it gets filled with water. We have used this pump each time and it works flawlessly. You just have to make sure you fill it with water before you start the pump. A regular garden hose is fine for the part that empties the water but make sure to get a super strong hose for the part that sucks up the water.

Wayne PC4 1/2 HP Transfer Water Pump
This is a great pump. I read several reviews before purchasing this pump and I am glad I got it. I got it to drain the hot water heater at my cabin in order to close my cabin down for winter. I haven't tried yet on the cabin, but I have drained a couple of 5 gal. buckets of water just to try it out. I am very impressed. It shoots the water out of the hose very fast and takes no time to drain a 5 gal. bucket. I did a few modifications to it. I added a switch to the pump. It doesn't come with one, and I totally understand why they don't put one on it. If the pump is plugged in when the switch is in the on positions and it isn't ready to pump, you could damage the pump. I plan on marking my switch so it is easily seen when in the on position. I also made a case for it, so it is easier to carry with the attached switch. I also added a shut off valve to make priming the pump easier. I keep the original plug in the shut off valve just to keep any foreign objects out of the pump. It is only hand tightened. Overall I am very happy with the pump and can't wait to use it next winter!

Wayne PC4 exceeds expectations!
I needed this product delivered overnight because we were hit by a storm that dumped the most rainfall recorded since 1924. I knew it would be impossible to locate this type of device locally because of the magnitude of the storm and the number of locals affected and Amazon did not disappoint. Our utility room had eight inches of water and the plumber was not successful in snaking out the drain. The pumps instructions were easy to understand and we had the pump working within 30 minutes of its arrival. I have no idea on how many gallons we had to pump out but the Wayne worked continuously for 8 hours and reduced the level to a point that we could use a shop vac to clean up the rest. I don't know the technical specifications for rating pumps, only that this product works and works well. It appears to be well made and packaged, and I would recommend it to anyone that finds themselves in a similar situation.

Great pumping for rain barrel
Got this pump to distribute water saved in 55 gallon rain barrel. It works great! With water can it took me 1 1/2 hours of filling and emptying rain barrel on plants, but with this little gem it took me 10 minutes. The water flow was just right even at the top of a 20 foot hill. The directions are pretty much nonexistent, but all that's required is screwing in the two brass fittings for adding intake and outflow hoses and adding on the 2 rubber feet to the bottom of the motor. Add water and then screw in the cap to the prime fitting, attach hoses, open spigot on rainbarrel and end of hose, plug it in and it works. This will be a great time saver and also much easier since I don't have to carry all those watering cans! Hope it lasts for years.

Bought this "just in case" and within a month it saved me from having to pay emergency plumbing fees
So glad I bought this. Went on vacation and came back at night time on a rainy day. My basement drain was backing water up into my basement. , it was about 8" high by the drain and it was just getting higher and higher - luckily my basement is sloped and not much damage was done. Immediately I pulled this pump out and set it up to use it my first time. Attached both hoses that I got for it, filled the top with water and put the strainer on the hose that I put into the water. Immediately it started pumping water at a decent rate outside. This kept the water level down (in fact, it drained all of it in about 1.5 hours) until I could get to Home Depot the next morning to rent a power snake and clear the clog. If I didn't have this my only choice would have been to call a plumber late at night on a Friday and pay ridiculous fees for an emergency visit.

3 years and going strong
Bought over 3 years ago to transfer 275 gal tanks of recycled water that I pick up weekly into holding tanks at my house. Then used twice a week to water lawns and gardens, emptying (2) 275 gal tanks with no problems. I run it for 30 min to an hour with no problems. Mine self primes when connected to the holding tanks, but like others say, fill the priming hole with water if it doesn't prime itself. I usually turn the pump on it's side when done to empty any water left inside to reduce rusting. Great pump, didn't think would last 3 years but still going strong!

Great pump. moves a lot of water
Great pump, works very well but make sure that you do not use a garden hose for the input hose because it will collapse, just like the instruction state. I used a 9 foot section of 5/8" automotive heater hose with garden hose connectors purchased from a hardware store for the input hose and it worked great. Make sure that the input connections are tight, as being even a little loose will allow the input line to suck in air which will not allow the pump to move any water. The instructions include this information, sometimes the user just ignores them (guilty as charged).

Great value, very high PSI and volume for only 1/2HP. Works great for pumping pond water and rain water for irrigation.
I had this Wayne pump for about 10 years and used it for various tasks, but primarily for pumping rain water from holding tanks to my lawn and garden. What I liked about this pump was the pressure it produced and how easy it was to use. You must make sure to prime the pump by pouring water into the top threaded cap. Without priming, this pump will not work! Most of my use was a flooded suction so the pump body filled with water as soon as it was connected into the holding tank. My old one bit the dust so I just bought this new one and it's the same high quality Wayne pump I expected. I push water through 250' of 3/4" garden hose to an impact sprinkler. This little guy doesn't bat an eye (sorry). For the cost, buying a sprinkler pump didn't make sense because they were nearly twice as much, but didn't have the higher volume and PSI like this pump does. Sure, it's a bit noisy, but it works great. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a third one if I felt the need for it! I hope you found my review helpful and if so, please click the yes button below. Thanks!

Able to pump uphill over 50 feet
I am really happy with this handy little pump. I was able to pump 100 gallons of water 50 feet up a steep hill in about 10 minutes. Finally I can catch water off my roof then pump it up to a tank above my house so that water can gravity feed it back into my home. This is very useful for off-grid homes to solve your water transfer needs. I ran it off a generator. It was easy to setup and I love that it easily connects to standard hoses.

Good pump with several uses.
Every home owner should have a general purpose water pump. It's one of those things that after you get it, you wonder how you lived without it. We use this to pump out the water on a fish tank, pump our rain barrel water to places gravity will not take it, and burp our hydronic floor heating/cooling system. We will find other uses for sure. It works pretty well. Not strong enough to run a sprinkler though the manufacturer does make those pumps, too.
