Today's music industry? No this shit is happening at least since the 70s with generic pop/disco songs.

Teri Pierce

"You say goodbye, and I say hello, hello hello, I don't know why you say goodbye I say hello" *teenagers franctically screaming*

Bhoii Jhonz

You know that “pop” stands for “popular” right? This only makes sense. Of course most of the teenagers listen to popular music. It has always been like that and it will always be like that.

it was always like that, check any decade and it had weirdly same sound of all mass pop songs produced. I think 80's pop was specially terrible about that. Pop is a safe music made for mass production. And while most eras had very colorful rock scene, the main problem today is that even rock music is becoming stale, mass produced and consumed and simply sounds same (metal too).

Melissa Binder

Its their choices to listen to it. There are many good genres with good music. You just have to find it

Mark Grisham

Please. This is the most musically liberal time ever. Remember when the king used to ban the tritone org "devils chord"? Or when all music had to be in Gregorian chants? No. You just only listen to the music made you appeal to everybody so ofc it sounds generic because it's made to be easy to listen to. Imagine if every radio station played hard bebop constantly. Do you know how annoying that'd be? Even as someone who likes it it's really fucking distracting

Juanita Walton-Spears

What teenager's listen this days isn't much better

Op is right. Once it was more organic. Now it costs too much to put someone in the publics eye. So they force it on you by overexposure. Watched a documentary on this, just forgot the name.
